Some people may think that Goa is just one long stretch of beach or island, but the truth is that Goa is made up of seven rivers and a number of roads, and of course, its towns, thus, explaining why Goa has several beaches, despite its size. There are beaches in the northern part of Goa such as:
- Miramar – nearest to the Panaji capital, and recommended for tourists who are on a strict budget since there are many budget hotels available there.
- Vainguinim – considered as a five-star beach because of its five-star hotel known not only for letting you enjoy luxuries, but also for giving you a taste of all that’s Goan, since the place is run strictly by Goans.
- Baga and Calangute – sometimes referred to as twin Goa beaches as they are connected to each other and have been the most popular of all the beaches in Goa. Goa tourists can look forward to Calangute and Baga beaches’ fish market, various guesthouses, bars filled with delectable cuisine and entertainment, etc.
In the southern part of the state, people will also love spending their day at beaches that are meant for those who would like to get away from the city. If the beaches of North Goa are known for their fun nightlife, the beaches in the South Goa offer serenity, relaxation, and privacy. Some of the beaches that people love going to include:
- Agonda – among the many Goa beaches, Agonda in the south may be considered as the most ‘unexplored’. It may make you feel like a castaway in an island, but of course, in a good kind of way. If you want peace and quiet mixed with being one with nature, Agonda beach is worth your time.
- Benaulim – just like Agonda, Benaulim beach is one of the quietest beaches in South Goa. Goa tourists who have been lucky enough to discover it will enjoy fishing or just soak up some rays from the sun while reading a good book or sipping lemonades. Those who may want to spend their time in prayer would also want to visit the Church of St. John the Baptist found on a hill within the village.
- Betul – included in the list of small Goa beaches, Betul is a fishing beach with a cool climate that attracts visitors from all over. Betul is also famous for its affordable and fresh catches, and is, in fact, the supplier of the state’s largest mussels. A number of restaurants that serve delicious seafood dishes will also cause mouth watering among Goa tourists.
