Anjuna Beach
Anjuna is a village and Anjuna beach is located in this village. This Village is located in the north Goa and is famous for a church called the St. Michael’s church founded in 1595.This church was dedicated to S. Miguel and the people and the church celebrate the feast of S. Miguel every September 29th. There are three large chapels in the parish: the first one is S. Antonio, the second one is Nossa Senhora de Saude and the last one is Nossa Senhora de Piedade .
The Anjuna beach is known for its full moon parties or acid house parties. It is held by and for young tourists and thousands of tourists are attracted by these parties. The trance party with frolic, merriment and dance goes all night besides the fire and it is just the perfect place for relaxation. The beach touches the Indian shore and the calm waters of Arabian Sea lapping softly on the shore are really beautiful and attractive for the tourists. In sixties the beach was haunt for the flower generation and is now famous with the younger generation and it has become famous because of the trance parties and the hippies. The hippies try to fuse the western music, ideas with the eastern spiritual traditions. The village in which the beach is located is small and it is popularly known as the freak capital of the world. The significant and famous tourist spots are the magnificent and the ancient Albuquerque mansion which was built in 1920s, the Chapora fort and the Mascarenhas mansion.
Another major attraction near anjuna beach is the flea market famous for Handicrafts,European snacks,Cassettes of ‘Goa Trance’ music .There are a lot of guest houses around Anjuna beach and those looking for longer stay in Goa should find this useful.
